Gammy replaces the normal Android home screen with a keypad-driven phone surface for kids getting a first phone, for seniors, for digital detox, and for anyone who wants a simpler phone. Everything below follows the same button logic: arrow keys to move, OK to choose, green to call, red to go back or hang up.

Help when it matters

SOS

A dedicated emergency flow with a clear countdown: it calls the chosen emergency contact and sends a text. Easy to trigger on purpose, easy to cancel by mistake-proof design.

Medication list

A read-friendly list of medication routine items and notes. Family keeps it current from existing care instructions in the PIN-protected settings area.

Beau, the voice helper

Press a button and talk: "Call Mary." "Set an alarm for 7." Beau listens, confirms, and does it - entirely on the phone, no internet account, with keypad typing as a fallback.

Medication and SOS tools are routine-support features. Gammy does not provide medical advice, dose recommendations, clinical monitoring, medication-adherence monitoring, or guaranteed emergency response.

Design principles

Designed around six rules

  1. Reuse beats replacement. Start with the Android phone someone already owns before buying separate minimalist hardware.
  2. Familiar beats flashy. Predictable phone-like actions, large labels, repeated layouts.
  3. Keypad first. Every core task works with the D-pad, number keys, green CALL, and red END.
  4. Local first. The phone works without cloud services; network use is narrow and visible.
  5. Family and senior ready. Setup power can live behind an admin PIN; daily screens stay quiet.
  6. No dead ends. Every screen has an obvious way forward, back, or cancel.
